Looking Back : Iron Fist in 2010

Is the end of the year folks and the holidays are here,Happy Holidays by the way. I looked back recalling key stuff involving Iron Fist's role in Marvel Universe this year as well as looking at what is next for Iron Fist in 2011.
Beginning of this year i kept my fingers crossed hoping to hear any news of Iron Fist resurfacing, then our prayers were answered in April, when Marvel announced Iron Fist will be back in action in SHADOWLAND event.
Danny Rand's role in Shadowland's main event was just a tip of the iceberg, Powerman & Iron Fist mini emerged with a new character Vic Alvarez as the new PowerMan with unbelievable Chi power, Vic had no idea or control of the chi until he crossed paths with Iron Fist. Danny seeing the potential in Vic, decided to mentor Vic to the right path as well as mastering his Chi.
In addition to joining forces with street level heroes to save Daredevil as well as mentoring Vic(Powerman). Iron Fist joined his buddy Luke Cage's New Avengers team defending the realm of Marvel Universe. We get to see also a new change of his outfit.
Apart from the change of outfit, Danny Rand & Misty Knight romantic relationship experienced some rough changes due to a misconception (Read I am an Avenger 1) without giving spoilers i will leave it on that note.
Iron Fist is also enlisted in the new Heroes For Hire series with Misty Knight, Ghost Rider, Elektra, Punisher and more Street Level heroes.
There is no doubt Marvel is preparing Danny Rand for something big, among all the street level heroes, Iron Fist had the last strike using his chi force to save Daredevil in Shadowland event. As an Avenger, a Hero For Hire as well as Mentor, Iron Fist is on the path of earning a higher rank within the Marvel Universe.
So far 2011 looks bright for Iron Fist and characters in Iron Fist universe, with Prince of Orpahans as a Secret Avenger for Steve Rogers Black Ops team.

Memorable Moment

Overall Best 2010 Iron Fist Moment
Yup that is right Danny Rand giving Dr.Strange a punch he will never forget.

On that note, i would like to Thank everyone that take their time to visit Iron Fist Fan blog. Happy Holidays again Folks!!

Just Wow Moment : Enter the Heart of Heaven Palace with Immortal Weapons

Saying this splash page is a  Just Wow Moment is an understatement, i will boldly say is one of the best and creative interior designs ever. Artist David Aja took his took to introduce the readers the Heart of Heaven Palace showcasing a round table for each Immortal Weapon city and connecting them all together to form the Seven Capital Cities of Heaven
Looking at the heptagon symbol and the Interior page, one cool thing is the position of each round table match exactly as the position on the symbol and each point has a Chinese animal name for each city,as well as having the same Chinese animal name on the table for each city. And for the first time we get to see all the Immortal Weapons as well as a glimpse of their representatives.
The incredible trio Matt Fraction/Ed Brubaker & David Aja at this moment were preparing the readers with a warm up of more Kung Fu cinematic themes that will keep you at the edge of your seat.

Power Man & Iron Fist by Daniel Wright

Daniel Wright is an Abstract Painter who started reading and drawing comics as a kid but sidetracked his interest into "fine arts". Now Daniel is back to his first love Comics and tried his hands on Power Man & Iron Fist as his first digital work. And as you can see from above it turned out great, it is a privilege as fan myself to welcome Daniel Wright back into comics.

SNAKE EYES is the Ultimate Iron Fist Opponent (by Fans Vote)

He is known by Snake Eyes, the key character and fan favorite of G.I.Joe team also known as "The Silent Master" "Ninja Commando" For worthy reasons I was not surprised fans voted most for Snake Eyes, he is what you call the Ultimate hardcore character with martial art skills as well as a highly trained soldier.
Thinking of it and looking at both characters universe, they do have a lot in common, Both characters are highly trained by top notch masters of martial arts with Snake Eyes getting his training from arashikage clan leaders : Soft & Hard Masters as well as K'un Lun's Lei Kun The Thunderer grooming Iron Fist into a Living Weapon.

They have all mastered and advanced in their respective martial arts, graduated themselves leading and becoming flag-bearers of their respective clans. As well as both characters being part of super elite teams in their own Universe, Iron Fist being part of New Avengers and Snake Eyes part of G.I. Joe team.

Not just that, both characters love interests do not just share romantic relationship but fight side by side, Scarlett(Snake Eye's Wife) & Misty Knight(Iron Fist's girlfriend)
They are both respected in their Universe and obviously have a large fan base. I personally i am a fan of Snake Eyes.

There you have it Fist Fans and Snake Eyes Fans, hopefully Marvel & IDW can collaborate and make a crossover issue.

Fred Van Lente discuss Upcoming PowerMan & Iron Fist mini

CBR discuss Powerman & Iron Fist mini with writer Fred Van Lente. Coming this February Fred Van Lente & Wellington Alives will continue the fun and adventure street crime storytelling Fred Van Lente & Mahmud Asrar left off in Shadowland : Powerman. Here are some of the key points he talked about

The Plot :
"The plot of the new mini finds the title characters working for a charitable organization in order to help clear the name of one of Danny Rand's old friends. "Jenny Royce was Luke and Danny's secretary in the 'Power Man and Iron Fist' series. She's been wrongly convicted of killing her employer, Crime-Buster, who was another Hero for Hire that was created by Kurt Busiek and Richard Howell in their run on 'Power Man and Iron Fist.' He was the bargain basement equivalent of Heroes for Hire. He would take any job, no matter how crooked, and overcharge you for it. He made lots of enemies while doing so, but Jenny unfortunately is the one that's been implicated in his murder," Van Lente explained. "The title of the arc is 'Men of Mystery.' It brings back many of the old 'Power Man and Iron Fist' favorites. They introduced a lot of pulp style heroes in that book, particularly when Jo Duffy was writing it. So El Aguilla , Professor Gamble, and the Black Tiger are all coming back. I'm having a really good time with all of these old characters."

On Iron Fist/Misty knight relationship :
"When the series begins, Danny Rand will have other things on his mind as well, inclusing his relationship with long time girlfriend Misty Knight, which recently became very rocky when they discovered that Danny's Iron Fist powers caused Misty to experience a phantom pregnancy. "Danny's relationship with Misty is affecting him greatly and it's very important to the series. That's because we give him a new love interest in issue #1," Van Lente revealed. "It doesn't come out of nowhere. Long time Iron Fist fans will immediately recognize her. She's a major Iron Fist supporting character who we've not seen for a long time. Except in 'Shadowland: Power Man' #4, come to think of it. I forgot she was in there."

On Vic(PowerMan) & Danny :
At the end of "Shadowland: Power Man," Victor Alvarez reluctantly agreed to work with Danny Rand, and by the time "Power Man and Iron Fist" #1 begins, that reluctance has turned into frustration. "He's chafing at having a subservient role to Iron Fist, because Iron Fist sees their relationship as teacher/student. Vic sees himself as more of an equal partner. He also refuses to call Iron Fist 'Master,' which is the traditional way to do things in Kung Fu. He's like, 'I'm not going to do that!'" Van Lente remarked. "So it's definitely a fun dynamic. We're taking the classic buddy-cop dynamic of the original 'Power Man and Iron Fist' series and we're putting a twist on it. Danny and Luke came from divergent backgrounds. Vic and Danny come from divergent backgrounds, and you have the age difference on top of that, which puts another layer of wackiness onto it.

Powerman appearing in Amazing Spiderman 652-653 :
"Power Man and Iron Fist" doesn't debut till February, but both longtime fans and new readers will get a chance to catch up with Victor Alvarez this January when the new Power Man pops up in "Amazing Spider-Man" #652-653. "It's a two part backup story to Dan Slott and Stefano Caselli's main feature. The stories are written by me and drawn by Mr. Reilly Brown of 'Prince of Power' fame," Van Lente told CBR. "In them, we see Vic going mano-y-mano with Spider-Man, who's pretty powerful in his own right. So you can gauge how powerful the new Power Man is in a fight against the biggest Marvel hero of all."

It is very clear now Fred Van Lente got great plans for Iron Fist, bringing back all the elements of making a great book enjoyable and fun to read, as well as investing and building the characters.

Just Wow Moment : Dan (It's A Dans World) Share his Two Cents on Iron Fist

Is Monday again Folks and like i said about switching things a bit, this time i decided to pass the mic and hear opinion from others to share the moment that made them  say JUST WOW, and who other than my cool fellow, Dan creator of Its a Dan's World

Hey folks, I'm Dan from It's a Dan's World and the guy that's lucky enough to be the one Aaron turned to to do a guest post right here on Iron Fist Fan.

The catch? I had to pick merely one 'Just Wow Moment' from Iron Fist's entire history and write it up. Sounds pretty easy, but after nights of re-reading all Danny's adventures that my longboxes struggle to hold and a few debatable rock-paper-scissor rounds, I have finally narrowed it down to two (okay so me and rules aren't always a good mix). Let's get into them!

THE SLEEPER : Don't let the size of this here panel from Immortal Iron Fist #16 fool you, as it sure packs a helluva punch. Howzat? Simple. Here Danny points out why he is different from the most of the Avengers, and that his priorities are a little more street level than dealing with Kang.

Danny's social conscience is a huge part of the character and it was great to see him lay that perspective out on the table with his old buddy Luke Cage. Speaking of buddies notice those two on the right there? You might want to check this previous Just Wow moment if you don't know who those two fine gents are.

THE KICKER: A straight talker of a panel just won't do when you're talking an action book like Immortal Iron Fist. Looking at the battle that made me check my own jaw for dents and bruises after I had finished reading it, I landed on this one from #12, between Davos and current Secret Avengers spotlight stealer Prince of Orphans.

In comics folks made of mist and the like are often quickly dispatched with a fast twirling stick or similar object, so Davos understandably thought he had this match in the bag. Plus he's got youth on his side right? Yeah, not so right... as the Prince of Orphans unleashes the 'Jawsnapper In Twilight', Davos suddenly realises the best advice was given at the start of the match "Shut up. Child" See for yourself.
Yip - that's going to leave a few bruises! I love Danny's response at the end there.

Thanks for letting me wax on about Iron Fist everyone - back to you Aaron, and cheers for the guest invite!

Sure will be lots of bruises and lessons learned, just like Dan and i do, re read the Immortal Iron Fist series and experience the wonders within, and like i always do, folks check his blog for coverage of comics related stuff .

Exclusive Iron Fist Movie news from Kevin Feige

Courtesy of HeroComplex, Kevin Feige at this moment is having a live chat with readers had a live chat with readers and lucky me, Mr Feige answered all my questions related to Iron Fist movie!!

First i asked, what was the status of the Iron Fist movie?

Kevin Feige- Hey Aaron, a very talented writer is currently working on a draft.

Then i asked who is his pick to be Iron Fist and if it will be based on Ed Brubaker/Matt Fraction's run.?

Kevin Feige- Hey Aaron, the movie is definitely inspired by that great run.

He also asked readers who should play Luke Cage and most readers responded  Terry Crews and Isaiah Mustafa (old spice commercial)

There you have it folks, Iron Fist movie is really on the way and best of all it will be based on Ed Brubaker/ Matt Fraction and David Aja's run. Not sure though if it is still Rick Wilkes (xXx movie writer) in charge of the draft, but whatever the case soon as more information unfold i will keep you posted.

So what do you think folks? Share your thoughts and comments below

Character Focus : Nameless Blue Eye Girl

I always give praise to Ed Brubaker,Matt Fraction & David Aja's Immortal Iron Fist series,to know how great it is, simple just buy the book and is all just a matter of really taking your time and dissecting this book and you will find all the clues and you will understand why i always give them praise.

One of many reasons that make their run a great must have series is the characters,Iron Fist universe is filled with unique and interesting characters, thanks to dynamic trio Ed Brubaker, Matt Fraction & David Aja.
The idea of a nameless character i think always work because is either the character have a loss of memory or does not know who they are,and this leads you the reader clueless in a good way as in wanting to find more information about the character. The first time nameless blue eye made an appearance, mystery surrounded her as Danny recognized she has a blue eye, but Lei Kung immediately shut Danny to rather pay attention to Fat Cobra's fighting moves. Which was a great setup for the character, leading Danny and you the reader asking how come there is a blue eyed color girl in a mystical city?
Things got more interesting and a bit of information about the nameless character unfolded when she attacked Danny
showing her martial arts skills which by the way is forbidden for a woman to learn martial arts in K'un Lun, at this point i felt like she had Elektra's traits with the martial arts skills and the secrets surrounding her.
Ed Brubaker and Matt Fraction made it clear now she is not just a one time appearance character but a key role in unknown secrets and mysteries involving K'un Lun affairs and even maybe Iron Fist himself.

I honestly want to continue but for the sake of new readers and not revealing spoilers is best to read and find out the outcome with her true identity revelead and truth behind the mysteries, she also play a major role changing the scenario of K'un Lun.

So Folks what do you think? share your thoughts and comments

Just Wow Moment : Iron Fist Chi Knockout end SHADOWLAND

First It was the Sucker Train Punch then the Rage punch now the Living Weapon Iron Fist has done it again with his ultimate one punch trademark using his Chi as a life force to help Daredevil to fight back his inner demons and end Shadowland. Honestly aside from Iron Fist title Kung Fu Billionaire i think he deserve to be titled  One Knockout Hero as well to justify what he do.

This was the highlight of the last issue, artist Billy Tan took his time to pencil a splash page showcasing the force of the chi as well as the impact of the blow and not forgetting  GuruEFx colors making it more spectacular. If you have not read this issue, i will highly recommend.

So Fist Fans do you really think Danny deserve the new title? share your thoughts and comments.
