Orson Randall first appeared in Immortal Iron Fist issue 1, Orson born in the Mystical City K'un Lun due to a plane crash which landed in the city with Orson's father and Orson's mother who was 8months pregnant with Orson. Orson grew up to become K'un Lun's champion fighter after defeating and receiving powers from the undying Shao-Lao.
Orson left K'un Lun and returned to earth fighting in World war I, the deaths of his war comrades affected him deeply as he was the only survivor among the people he fought with.
Orson became friends with Ernest Erskine, who became Orson's biographer and wrote all about Orson's life story,his adventures,who he fought his enemies etc.. Orson then joined forces with his trainee Wendell Rand(danny rand's father), Ernest Erskine who was known as Lucky Pierre, Shadu the Shady, Contessa, Chores MacGillicuddy, they were known as Confederates of the Curious, they traveled around the world on an adventure quest.
Orson was later summoned back to K'un Lun to represent his city and fight in the Tournament of Heavenly Cities, Upon his refusal to fight in the tournament he mistakenly killed one of the Immortal weapons as they tried to take away his title and powers, he then fled K'un Lun. Hiding from one country to the other, Orson got tired of all the problems and turned to drinking alcohol and drugs. Until he was found by the Steel Serpent Davos.
Orson then returned back to the United States to join forces with Danny Rand to defeat Davos who also joined forces with Hydra. Orson and Danny retrieved The book of the iron Fist, which contains all the history of the previous Iron Fists, and alot of stuff related to K'un Lun.
In the midst of this epic battle, Orson gave up and sacrificed himself as he was tired of running, the suffering, the loss of people he loved and care for, the gift and curse of the iron fist mantle and every pain it cost him. He allowed himself to be defeated by Davos. Orson then convinced Danny to receive his powers.
Orson Randall did leave a big mark and a legacy on Iron Fist universe, he broke all the Rules, making hard decisions such as not involving him self in the Tournament and politics of K'un Lun, did whatever he felt was right, Orson studied and knew everything n more about the previous Iron Fists, he knew alot of mystical powers like the hypnotizing move he made when he arrived at the airport, he also used a mystical power to make his long time friend/biographer Ernest Erskine from dying of pneumonia and kept him from aging.
I can say so far Orson is the most powerful holder of the Iron Fist, with his superb action such as using his chi on guns, and awesome ass kicking and kung fu moves, his various dangerous adventures around the world.
I just hope all that wont be the last of Orson Randall as there is more about him to be uncovered, but so far what is known is epic.

Orson Randall, based as he is on The Razor's Edge, combines the rare ability to totally pervert and misunderstand the message of that book (and films) with the perennial 90s style reimagining of giving guns to a person who would not only not need guns but would surely see using them as a weakness.
Ch'i enhancing cold iron guns is also a total nonsense.
The dilution of Iron Fist with extraneous iterations is unfortunate.
